"Living in the present" has had no more meaning than with the surprising Acute Leukemia diagnosis on March 16, 2007.
It came as a complete surprise after thinking I was in pretty good physical shape doing two 26.2 miles marathons last fall, the Disney Half Marathon in January and was riding 30 miles for 3 hours on Florida Rails to Trails in February while missing the Indy blizzard.
I finished the 24 hour continuous 7 day Chemo treatment about 6:00 Saturday night March 24th.Having lots and lots of transfusions and then Lasik to flush the fluids from the body-----Continuous through out the night with only small segments of sleep.Believe they said I returned the equivalent of 9 coke cans the other night so many trips to the bath room---Guess I just have to "Keep Going The Distance" :-)
Understand they will continue to twink with the transfusions, etc., for the next couple weeks before doing another Bone Marrow Procedure to see how effective the initial Chemo regimen has been and evaluate possible future options.
Sharon and I have perfect peace about the whole situation .
Thanks so much for the many many expressions of encouragement, support, prayers and thoughts from you all.
Continued best wishes to you all.Bob & Sharon Thompson

Bob, Of course you are "Going the Distance"..We would expect nothing less. There is a song that has the verse "I will walk through the valley, if HE wants me to"...there are times when I cling to that and HIS promises. Our GOD is an awesome GOD...And still holds miracles in HIS hands. We love you and know your strength and we know where it comes from...you have been a witness to us many times, though you probably didn't realize it. Ya know Bob, we have had new chambers of our hearts opened with the births of our grandchildren. Such precious gifts from GOD...what joy we receive daily. Take care of you and hug Sharon for us. We know how much love you have for one another, Rick is my best friend, too.
Will anxiously await "updates" and the glorious works GOD has instore.
Love, Rick and Theresa
Hi BOB... JUST a QUICK NOTE to say that we will SEEE YAAA @ CAESARS this fall...
Presently I am still working... at 72... designing a BAR CODE syatem that will allow BLIND PEOPLE enter a drug store... purchase drugs... exit the store... un attended...
Hi Bob. This is a cool site to get updates and hear from you and communicate with a bunch of people in one place. Let me first say that I believe in the power of prayer and they are all directed towards your healing and comfort and peace. I have girlfriends all across this nation praying for Bob. As I told you, I got through the mini, 13.1 miles with your inspiration. You gave me strength that day, May 5th. I was finishing for you and for me. Next year, let's do it together. Go the distance... God Bless and hold you tight. You have so many that care and love you. Take care of you, Susan
