2nd five day Dacogen Chemo series scheduled for this Monday through Friday

The Acute Leukemia roller coaster adventure has continued with a 9 day hospitalization for the high night time temperatures from Saturday, December, 29th to Monday, January, 7th.
They tried various types and kinds of (one continuous) of IV antibodics, etc. to combat the night time temps.
Don't think they found a specific cause or fix and are now trying to have one Steroid per day and Tylenol every 4 hours at home which seems to be working OK.

BUT every time I've had Prednisone during any of the prior chemo regimens, I get the HICCUPS and have them again. They are so bad that I shake the bed at night.
They've given me a prescription but were not encouraging that it would be helpful and so far it has not helped.

The Oncologist had thought that the platelets would be OK from an infusion on Sunday until I saw him at his office this past Thursday. However, he apologized after I experienced lots of bruising and continuous oozing from several prior nicks & pricks.

There was not time to do the prescribed 1 platelet and 3 whole blood transfusions Thursday as an out patient.
So the Dr admitted me as a 23 hour observation patient to have time to do the 'catch up' infusions.
We were admitted about 2:00 Thursday afternoon and came home at 9:30 AM Friday.

He has me on a routine every other day Platelet infusion which means I'll get Platelets and the Chemo, Dacogen on Monday, Wednesday & Friday at St. Vincent's Out Patent Unit and just the Chemo at his office on Tuesday and Thursday.

We'll have another appointment with the Oncologist on Tuesday, Jan 22 to evaluate the 5 day Dacogen regimen.

Trust you're keeping those New Year's resolutions and looking forward to a wonderful 2008
